In the beginning, all was well. Wolves roamed the land freely and died willingly. Their world was at peace, but how long does harmony usually last?
Greed, jealousy, and temptation tainted this peaceful land as it always does and the ones who watched over it were angered at what they saw. Everything they had built and worked for was in complete ruins.
So to restore what had once been, they made plans. "Brilliant," they called it. They chose the wolves that were of the friendliest, generous, and mostly warm-hearted natures to remain. These special few were revolutionized and given the power of immortality.
But was it truly a gift? All others that had not been converted departed to what would be their ends. Friends, family, close relations; none survived the obstruction and wrath of time itself. Those not being subject to death became resentful of the gods as they became the last animate objects.
Their rage began to build and the once pleasant canines became worse than what their brethren had been, but some still believed that the ability to live on was a gift and lived it up, angering the ones against it. The ones who wanted to reunite with family, the ones who wished for the ability to perish and fall to the eternal rest.
The dilemma they had unknowingly created worried the elements - the gods - and the great beings knew some sort of action had to be take or else dire consequences would be thrust upon them, but what to do was the real question.
The four elemental leaders fought long and hard about the actions to be taken. The gentler of the group: Earth and Water, took pity upon the poor souls and sought to lift the so called curse, but the requests offended the other duo: Fire and Ice and demanded that the endowment remain.
Finally a compromise was formed. If the ones wanting to pass on could fulfill some certain extreme conditions they could leave the living world and enter a sanctuary where they could have tranquility and rest forever.
Yet, tragedy struck as always, and before the Elements plan could be put into motions, it seemed the Gods evaporated, and disappeared into thin air. Leaving the forsaken wolves behind to continue their wretched living.
Nothing to save them now. The younger, more rebellious rouges led an uprising against the ill mannered and furious opposers to their ideas. Thus causing the world to divide into two different civilizations. Separated by their own beliefs and opinions. Two cities arose from the mistakes of others. These oppidan societies were birthed Azrael and Hesperus.
